PRISM - Call for Peer Reviewers

Call for Peer Reviewers

As the range of topics that impact national and international security professionals grows, so does our need for expert peer-reviewers here at PRISM. Please volunteer for PRISM peer reviewer duty!

We are looking for peer-reviewers who are subject matter experts (SMEs) in one or more of the following areas relevant to PRISM’s mission: “emerging challenges beyond strictly the military domain, including, but not limited to, transnational and/or multi-domain threats; gray zone, hybrid, or irregular conflict; emerging technologies; and geoeconomic competition.” Expertise in other areas may also be considered. The ideal peer-reviewer is someone who has prior experience in this capacity, who has published academic and/or policy pieces in peer-reviewed outlets on issues related to PRISM’s area of focus, and who can provide constructive feedback on submissions under PRISM’s consideration for publication.

PRISM expects peer-reviewer SMEs to carefully review submissions to help us address questions related, but not limited, to:

  • Topical relevance: Is the topic relevant to scholars and practitioners of irregular, hybrid, and/or gray-zone warfare, especially those who study and/or work on addressing emerging challenges beyond strictly the military domain, including, but not limited to, transnational and/or multi-domain threats; emerging technologies; and geoeconomic competition?

  • Novelty: To what extent does the submission advance our understanding of irregular, hybrid, and/or gray-zone warfare in some new way(s)? How original is the argument? How well does the submission address the “so what” factor?

  • Strength of argument(s): Is the argument thoroughly presented or are there gaps that need to be filled? Is the major relevant literature addressed? Does the author make a clear argument that is backed by credible and relevant evidence? Does the author use logical reasoning to connect the evidence to his/her main argument(s)? How well does the author anticipate and address opposing viewpoints?

  • Style: How well is the argument organized and presented?

If interested, send a note to PRISM@irregularwarfarecenter.org with the subject areas you would like to review.

Thanks in advance for your help with maintaining the highest quality of discussion of issues important to our community!
